We are proud of our mission to help others and are dedicated to giving back to our communities. In the last three years, PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center has given over $2.5 million in grants to community partners in the Northwest. And there’s more to come!
Here are a few recent examples:
Affordable housing
We gave $300,000 to The Millworks project, which provides affordable apartments and childcare in Bellingham.
Healthy food for youth programs
We donated $100,000 to renovate the kitchen at the Lummi Nation Boys & Girls Club, a center for youth activities and after-school care.
Health and homeless services
We contributed $400,000 to the Way Station, a place with health services, laundry, and showers for people experiencing homelessness, opening in 2024.
Behavioral health services
We supported the Whatcom Clubhouse with $150,000, providing a day program for people with mental health diagnoses.
Support for families with newborns
We contributed a $25,000 grant toward renovation needs to open Paso Seguros at Villa Santa Fe in Bellingham. The program serves Spanish speaking families and their newborns and offers postpartum and newborn resources and education materials.
PeaceHealth St. Joseph Community Impact Snapshot
In FY24, PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center gave $394,000 to Whatcom County organizations.
Each year, the Community Collaboration Committee matches grant funding to community needs, on top of providing $23 million in free care and $100 million in unpaid state program costs.
To meet healthcare needs, PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center works with many community providers and service partners, including public health, emergency services, Unity Care NW, Sea Mar, and others. In 2021 alone, 20 community partners received funds from PeaceHealth.
We are grateful to work with our partners in Whatcom County to support the growing number of individuals and families who live here.
